Islamophobia: why the world is scared of its own reflection
Sarenna Lalani is a grade 12 student at Lillian Osborne High School who is passionate about social equity and the creation of community. As Student Council President, Sarenna has worked hard to create an inclusive environment that is accepting of students of all different backgrounds and abilities. Through her involvement on the Social Equity Committee of the City of Edmonton Youth Council, Sarenna has worked to extend this inclusion beyond the walls of her school. Captain of her school’s debate team, Sarenna enjoys using her voice to advocate for those marginalized by society.
Sarenna’s talk will focus on the nascency of one of the world’s most common phobias and how we can work to change harmful perceptions while global leaders continue to promote bigoted worldviews.
