Breaking the Chains of Expectation
Deeply passionate about equality, public speaking, music, and dance, Navya Baradi is exploring the societal expectations that are imposed on children, youth, and adults. She is currently in grade 11 at Old Scona Academic and is actively involved in Speech and Debate and Musical Theatre. She loves discussing politics, poetry, all kinds of music, and international affairs. Expression comes in many forms but she has always been fascinated by the power of words that can create social change. Her TEDxYouth@Edmonton talk will delve into the gender stereotypes that are enforced at a young age will develop and become continuously more detrimental when they enter the workforce. She hopes that by addressing the root cause of this in schools, it will motivate people to question these expectations at every stage in life.
